Shutterstock / Make Something
print campaign
In June of 2008 I was contracted by Shutterstock to create a new print campaign. They are the largest subscription-based stock photo agency in the world, so I felt I needed to take a very unique approach. If you've ever seen a design magazine, you'll know that the stock photo advertisements are about as exciting as watching old people eat. So my marching orders were to somehow incorporate photos from their vast library into captivating and enticing print ads.
After several sleepless nights and a promissory note to Satan for my soul – viola! – Shutterstock’s new "Make Something" campaign. Targeting creative professionals, designers and any other like-minded deadbeats, this was a call to arms. A visual statement that stock photography can be used to create wildly creative and vibrant pieces of art - and it's not just for lame images of goofy business guys shaking hands. So get off your ass and make something, you lazy bastards!
